How Sigmate Guard works

Every message on Sigmate passes through Sigmate Guard, a set of fixed, automated rules. The rules are the same for everyone, they are written down here, and no token developer can switch them off or aim them at anyone.

gm, who's holding through the dip?

Sent as written. Most messages are.

What the HhDjzjJdkg@€ is going on?

Sent, with the swear word scrambled. Only that word changed.

Rules, not judgment calls

Sigmate Guard runs on Sigmate's servers, before a message is saved or shown to anyone. It works from code and word lists. There is no AI moderation and no outside moderation service, and nobody reviews messages before they appear.

The same message in the same situation gets the same decision. The situation matters: how fast you've been posting, what you sent recently, whether you're in a cooldown, and whether the room is in slow mode. Every decision is stamped with the version of the rules that made it.

When a message isn't sent, you see why, in plain words. It never just disappears.

Profanity is scrambled, severe content is rejected

Ordinary swearing isn't blocked. The matched word is replaced on the server with random letters and symbols of the same length, and the rest of your message is kept exactly as you wrote it. Words that merely contain the same letters are left alone.

Some content is never posted, and counts as a severe violation:

  • slurs and hate speech,
  • threats of violence,
  • encouraging someone to hurt themselves,
  • wallet-drainer and scam bait.

Spam and rate limits

Guests can send one message every 3 seconds and signed-in wallets one every 1 second, with short bursts allowed. Sigmate Guard also stops repeated and near-identical messages (including the same text posted across rooms), long runs of capitals or repeated characters, emoji floods, and bot-like posting rhythms. These count as minor violations.

Cooldowns

Minor violations within 15 minutes add up. A cooldown means you can still read every room, but you can't post until it ends. Sigmate shows you when that is.

  1. 1st minor violationA warning. Nothing else happens.
  2. 2nd minor violationA 60-second cooldown.
  3. 3rd minor violationA 5-minute cooldown.
  4. 4th and later minor violationA 30-minute cooldown each time.
  5. Severe violationAn immediate 15-minute cooldown. A second severe violation within 24 hours brings a 24-hour restriction from posting anywhere on Sigmate.

Slow mode during raids

When a room suddenly sees a burst of new guests, messages, rejected messages or identical messages, it switches to slow mode automatically for 10 minutes. Posting limits get tighter, most of all for brand-new guests, and the room shows a slow mode notice.

Rooms are never closed, and nobody, including the token's developer, can turn slow mode on or off.

Token developers can't moderate

A wallet verified as a token's creator gets a DEV badge, can pin one announcement and can run polls. Both go through the same rules as everyone else's messages, and a pinned announcement is labelled as coming from the creator's wallet, not from Sigmate.

A developer cannot:

  • delete, edit or hide anyone else's messages,
  • mute, ban or restrict participants, or stop guests from posting,
  • trigger, shorten or lift a cooldown,
  • switch off moderation or slow mode,
  • see moderation records or anyone's direct messages.

Reports and removals

You can report a message, a direct message or a participant from its menu. Reports go to Sigmate's platform team. A report never removes anything by itself.

If the platform team removes a message, it isn't silently erased. Its place in the conversation shows: Message removed by Sigmate Guard.

Blocking someone hides their messages for you and stops direct messages between you in both directions.

Moderation records

Each decision other than a plain accept is recorded: which rule, what happened, when, and which version of the rules applied. Only Sigmate platform administrators can see these records, and they are deleted automatically after 90 days.
